  Working Rules

The JIB is responsible for the industry Working Rules. These Rules contain information on:
Grading Definitions and Conditions of employment, the Holidays with Pay Scheme, the Industry Sick Pay Scheme and the Apprentice Training Scheme.

Wages

A new two year wage agreement has just been agreed between the employers and the trade union. The agreement will become effective from Monday 7 June 2010.

         

          Year 1 - June 2010  

  • No increase in the graded rates of wages and allowances – continuation of the current rates of pay for a further 12 months.
  • An increase of 5p to 30p per mile in the mileage allowance payable to employees who use their own vehicle during working hours at the request of the employer.
  • A reduction of 2 hours to 41 hours in the weekly overtime threshold.

          Year 2 - June 2011

  • A 2% increase in the graded rates of wages and all allowances.
  • A further I hour reduction in the overtime threshold to 40 hours per week.

The next wage agreement is expected to run from 4 June 2012. A copy of the Notice of Promulgation which details the new wages agreement can be downloaded opposite.

REDundancy

A Redundancy Guide which provides some basic information if you are made redudant can be downloaded opposite.

National Minimum wage - Apprentices

The rules and regulations related to the National Minimum Wage (NMW) are quite detailed. Employees or employers requiring detailed information on any aspect of the NMW e.g. Calculation of hourly rate should telephone the NMW helpline on 0845 6000 678 where detailed information is available on NMW employment rights.

JIB acs AGREEMENT
